Young & Giroux, Access, (2004)
Young & Giroux live in separate cities. The arrive at the final form of their sheet metal sculptures by 3D modeling software in which they create virtual forms that are emailed back and forth until both are satisfied. It is a “Boolean” process, of fluidity adding and subtracting elements to and from a form. These fully detailed computer drawings are then sent to an industrial fabricator, the parts assembled and powder coated leaving them seemingly indestructible and untouched by human hands.
